Always included in the price is our delicious breakfast buffet, the perfect start to an eventful day. For the afternoon & early evening, we offer a small & fine menu with a selection of snacks. And in the evening, you can look forward to an exquisit finish à la carte: we offer a compact selection from Stefan's and Astrid's enjoyment portfolio!
Our culinary philosophy
Cooking strictly according to a recipe is not the way of Stefan, our Head of Kitchen. He prefers to wield the wooden spoon with a lot of instinct & creativity to conjure up every culinary treat he can think of, from traditional to modern dishes.
Stefan and his team focus on:
- regional ingredients such as high-quality products like the Glemmtaler beef
- knowing where the best ingredients come from
- considerate cooking for people suffering from allergies or intolerances
- fish, meat & vegetables: as long as it's exciting & tastes good!
Individual, flexible and responsible

No final decision in the morning for the 5-course menu! If you already had a meal at one of Saalbach's scenic huts in the afternoon, you can end the day with a small snack at the hotel bar. Even the spontaneous sunset hike or late evening trip to the lake is no longer a problem!
Our kitchen can react flexibly when there's a surplus of ingredients in the fridge. In our questionable culture of waste, we want to take a good step towards more sustainability and against food waste!
We are turning our backs on the rigid menu plan and want to cater to your individual wishes! Junior chef Stefan fulfils the wishes of his guests whenever possible, for vegetarians and meat fans alike.
We can fully concentrate on the main dishes of the small but exquisite menu. In addition, hostess Astrid Steger will serve classics from Austrian cuisine once a week, just like in the old days - e.g. roast pork & ribs.
Not only our guests, but also our staff are close to our hearts and will be relieved by the realignment.
Even though we are turning our backs on the classic half-board with a 5-course menu of choice in the evening, dinner can still be booked as a fixed option (exception: our kitchen team gets a breather on Monday evening). We offer a delicious 3-course menu with salad buffet for €20 per person and evening.

I love nothing more than taking natural ingredients and produce from the region and turning it into delicious dishes for our guests.
Start the day the right way
We know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That is why we make sure guests staying with us have a wide choice of healthy and hearty options, from homemade bread and pastries to fresh milk and butter from the local farmer and our own granolas, cakes and jams – perfect for loading up on energy ready for the day ahead.
Flexible catering in the afternoon & evening
Perfect for those who need a quick snack in the afternoon. Perfect for those who don't like to eat their coffee without a pastry. Also perfect for those who just want a little evening stomach-closer after a full day of lunches on the mountain:

Dinner at the Kohlmais Stubn
Our restaurant is open daily from 18:00-20:30. In order to be able to conjure up delicious dishes flexibly and with full commitment, we focus on a small but excellent selection of dishes.
Special highlight: once a week hostess Astrid Steger creates genuine Austrian classics such as schnitzel, ribs or roast pork.
Note: Monday is a day of rest. We want to give our hard-working kitchen team a short breather.
The taste of Salzburg
For all those guests who would like to book half board from the outset, we are happy to continue to offer a slim half board. A 3-course menu with salad buffet can be booked as a fixed option (except Monday). The selectable dishes are based on our fine evening menu.
