Vision and values of head chef Stefan

Our head chef, Stefan,is not one to follow recipes to the letter. Instead, he prefers bringing his own influences and creativity to the table when it comes to the traditional and modern cuisine served at the Hotel Astrid.

Here are some key elements of his cooking philosophy:

  • Use regional produce wherever possible, for example beef from the Glemmtal Valley
  • Get to know local farmers and producers in order to source the best possible ingredients
  • Speak to guests to find out if they have any allergies or food intolerances
  • Fish, meat and fresh vegetables form the basis of a healthy and balanced diet

Start the day the right way

Healthy and hearty breakfast buffet

We know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. That is why we make sure guests staying with us have a wide choice of healthy and hearty options, from homemade bread and pastries to fresh milk and butter from the local farmer and our own granolas, cakes and jams – perfect for loading up on energy ready for the day ahead.

Further highlights include themed breakfasts (for example our Bavarian breakfast with sausages, mustard and beer). If you know you will be arriving a little later but still want to enjoy breakfast at the hotel, let us know in advance and we will be happy to serve you breakfast at the hotel bar or in our restaurant.

Half-board & half-board light at the Hotel Astrid

Guests can choose between two options:

  • Half-board: Breakfast, afternoon snack and five-course dinner (winter) / four-course dinner (summer)
  • Half-board light: Breakfast and aftenoon snack (also available in a breakfast-only option).

Our afternoon snack is a mixture of sweet and savoury treats. The afternoon snack, as well as dessert and cheese after dinner, are sometimes served not in the restaurant, but instead in our bar and lounge area.
